In high school I ran track, and was extremely good and ran at some high profile national events, now that im out of highschool and have been for a few years, I am looking to run as an independent but im not sure if the competition will be enough for me (not tooting my horn, but if opponents dotn keep up I slack off)

So has anyone run as independent on a competitive level? Id hate to have to lose the competitive part of running like i have the past year or two.

i was a 110mhurdler, 400m hurdler, long, high and triple jumps.

110 hurdles I got 13.9 as a PR, 400m i think was 51(not sure since it wasnt my main event) long jump was 23 feet even, triple was 44 feet, high jump was 6 foot 4 inches.

hate to tell you but here in Texas those numbers dont get you very far even in high school. i know most college meets you can run as an independent as we had a few run in my meets when i ran for University of North Texas. do that and im sure you wont be slacking off. i was a pole-vaulter but my coach made me run as well and i had to run the 200m against Jeremy Wariner. needless to say he made me look like a fool
