trackball light

ive noticed that when i get a text the trackball lights up, but not when i get an email, where are the settings for this? can it be turned on/off.

i think the trackball glow is pretty cool!
 
Not sure how a Hero works vs other android builds, but the market has a variety of apps that control the LED light which work for my G1 so I would think it might work on other android phones wherever their LED is located.
