Traffic layer in Google Maps 5

I've noticed a couple of issues with the traffic layer in the Google Maps 5 update:

I generally have my phone displaying Maps with the Traffic layer while I'm driving. Intermittently, the traffic layer suddenly disappears from the map and, on checking the layers menu, it is unticked. Trying to reselect the layer is unsuccessful, and I have to totally exit from Maps, go back in, and then select traffic from the layers menu to get it working again.

In the previous version of maps, the roads were displayed wide enough that you could easily see the two directions. In v5, the roads are rendered so fine that it is very difficult to see the colour of the two lanes of traffic when the phone is in a screen suction mount. E.g. if westbound is green abd eastbound is yellow, it is very difficult to distinguish. It used to be very clear in v4.

I really hope Google address both of these issues.

Might be he's looking to see if anyone else is experiencing this. I'm using a Droid X 2.2 stock and have no problems distinguishing colors between lanes, and no issues with a disappearing layer (knocks on wood). Might be a problem related to your specific phone (a Desire, I assume).

I've logged the issue here (a) to see if anyone else does have the problem, and (b) because I cannot see where to log a problem (that is not related to map content) directly with Google (and believe me when I tell you I've looked!). If anyone is able to point me in the right direction, then that's cool with me.

Epic4G and I have no problems distinguishing between both sides of the road.

The only gripe I have is that traffic isn't overlayed at the default zoom level in Google Navigation. If I zoom out just a little bit I can see the traffic layer just fine.
