Transfer all contacts to Google

My mom has a Droid 4. I told her about the incoming update and how she should do a FDR afterwards. She's already gonna have enough trouble, but now it seems that most of her contacts aren't in Google. What is the fastest way to transfer them all to Google so she can save them?

I would simply export them to a file and then import them into the Google account that she has the phone sync'ed to.

Call me stupid if you want, but how do you do that? I've never had to do it before. Export them through a cable and computer? Through some file sharing system? Or do you mean export them through the contacts themselves? Sorry to ask something so basic, but really she has so many contacts that show up only once as a number, but when you go to edit them, some say Google twice, some say backup assistant twice, some say each one twice, and any combination you can think of. I hate backup assistant. It's spam to me. I prefer all Google.

It sounds like the contacts are saved both as Google contacts and sync'ed to verizon. First what I'd do is to log into the phone's gmail account on a desktop and look to see what contacts are there. If they are all listed, then you really don't have to worry. After a reset they will sync back to the phone.

If they are not there then go to the contacts app, press menu>import/export>export to file. It will export a vCard file with all your contacts in it. Then copy that off the phone to a PC. Open the gmail account, go to contacts and click on the more button. Import contacts should be there and give you the option to import a vCard file.
