Help Transferring/backing up data

As it's Samsung phones you can use Smart Switch.

I used SmartSwitch to transfer my data from my LG V20 to my Note 8 with the adapter for the cable. It transferred everything from apps to settings. It worked great.

Hi folks,
Hope someone can help me with my question - I have Nova Prime on my current (old) Samsung and gonna switch to Note 8. I watched the video related to migrating using USB cable, Smart Switch, etc. That's great, but what is the correct order of actions? Should I transfer all the data using USB cable first, then install Nova Prime to the new phone and then, use Nova's backup already on the new phone? Or should I initially install Nova onto the new phone and only after that transfer the data from the old phone?..

So, the steps are:
1. WiFi
2. Log-in to Google acc.
3. Download and install Nova prime
4. Restore from Nova backup.
5. Transfer the data using Smart Switch.

Is that correct?

i have not had a reason to backup, but i am under the impression its in the cloud, so once you restore from smart switch, you then open up nova and restore from the cloud...

the backup will wipe over everything you install PRIOR to the backup, so do nova launcher as the last step.

I bought a new Note 8, I wonder how to setup for it to work like my old android phone with all the old phone data and apps and settings...?

I want to move everything to the new phone, so that the new phone can work well without missing anything from the old phone Samsung Galaxy S4.

If there is any important thing to setup in new phone, tell me too.

Hi there! I recommend you install an app called Smart Switch by Samsung. It will allow you to move everything from the old phone to the new phone.

In a perfect world, you would reboot your Note8 and it would work exactly like your S4 did. We don't live in a perfect world, however... so you can expect to set a few things back up. Your home screens may not copy over: so make sure you know where you want everything to go. You will need to set your widgets back up. And you will need to log into some apps again, as well as setting up your security like PIN or fingerprint. But it will save you hours of work by getting most things done for you.

Manually setting everything back up is good for a fresh start, but that transfers nothing. Call log, SMS/MMS messages, accounts, setting, app data... it's all lost. I'll put my money on Smart Switch because it's a lot faster.

What happens to people who bought non Samsung phones and cannot use smart switch? How do they manually move Call log, SMS/MMS messages, accounts, setting, app data...? Example if changing phone from Huawei to Google pixel, Samsung to Oppo.

What do you mean by "accounts"?

By "Accounts" I mean Google, Facebook, Samsung, etc. the accounts on your phone. Email, messages, that sort of thing.
