Help Transferring Contacts and Apps From Existing Android

Hi-

I took my phone to Sprint and they provided little or no support when it came SIM card or anything else for that matter. After installing the SIM card they completely bypassed the setup features (me unknowing). I have have read about the highly touted capability to transfer apps and contacts from my old Samsung Galaxy S5. Is there a way to get back to that screen or another approach to transfer. I could not get the NSF to work either.
Thank you in advance.

You need to have setup your old phone to backup your data. Backups cannot be done after the fact. That means for backup and restore to work it was your responsibility to:

1. In Settings > Backup and reset > Backup my data > Enabled. Automatic restore > Enabled.
2. In Settings > Accounts > Menu > Auto-sync data > Enabled.
3. In Settings > Accounts > Google > Select your account > Select data to be backed up.
4. Contacts, calendar events, etc must have been saved to your Google account.

If you did these steps most of your setup and data would automatically be transferred to your new phone. SMS/MMS are not included, however, nor is anything on the SIM card, but you shouldn't save anything to the SIM anyway.

If you did not setup backups but still have the S5 you can:

1. Enable the options listed above.
2. Make sure contacts, etc are saved to your Google account.
3. Reset your new phone: Settings > .Backup and restore > Factory data reset.

This will reset the phone so that when it restarts you are back at the initial setup screen. After entering your Google account and establishing a data connection automatic restoration of apps, contacts, etc will begin.
