Transferring Contacts

So, I know this should be much more simple than it is. Maybe I'm just forgetting something obvious. But recently my atrix phone's screen stopped working in some spots for no apparent reason. Luckily it's still under warranty so I'm getting a replacement phone in the mail soon. Anyway I need to save all my contacts to my sim card now. All 250+ of them. When I go to export them to my Sim card, it says I need to free up more space.
My problem is, I don't know what is taking up so much space on the card already. All my music is on my SD Card and I just deleted all my photos and videos out of desperation. Yet it still won't copy.
Any ideas as to what's maybe bogging down my Sim card?

the only thing I can think of is that your SIM card is already filled with other contacts. (I'm not sure how many contacts a SIM card can hold.) You can back up all your contacts to an SD card and then transfer them to Google. This way it will save all contact info., e-mails, address, notes, etc. (The SIM card only saves names and phone numbers.)

I tried backing it up to my SD card, by selecting it under "export contacts" but it went super fast and I'm pretty sure only saved one contact. Any ideas on how to do it alternatively? Haha, I'm just having major difficulties with my contacts at the moment

Well, I just backed up my contacts and I saw the progress of the coping from 1 to 183 contacts. (It only took like 15 sec.) It saved it as "0001.vcf" in sdcard-ext. You can find the file at the bottom of the list using a file manager on your phone. What you would then do is export the vcf file to google contacts. Its really easy. Use the data cord, power cord, that came with the Atrix or if you have a Lapdock, you should be able to copy the vcf file that way too.
