Transferring video to pc

vejer

Newbie
I can locate my photos and videos on pc, but the video files come out as mp4. I can hear the sound, but there are no images. Any advice please.

Greetings vejer,

It sounds like you've transferred the files to your computer, but are unable to see the video when playing them.

It sounds like a codec error on your pc.

1. Have you ever been able to play .mp4 videos?

2. Which player on your pc are you trying view the videos through?

I'm going to try to provide information based on a windows computer. I don't have enough mac or linux information to be of help.

If your using windows media player, and never ran .mp4 videos before, you might want to try out a different player like..

1.VLC (video lan player)

2. Kmplayer

3. Media player classic.

All of these come with software codecs to play files that windows usually doesn't by default.

If your prefer to use windows media player, you can download a codec pack like K-lite, which will allow windows media player to run these files.

I'm kind of grasping at straws because you don't give me a lot of info to go on, so I hope this helps.

you just need VLC media player, google it, its free, your stock media player is to old and why it only plays sound. the video file is fine.

Downloaded VCL and yes my mp4 files play o.k. Thanks.

Only one problem - when I open my video file in VCL, sound is ok, but video starts to play and then the image stops - it becomes pixilated. I can view it ok on the phone. Now what am I doing wrong.

you just need VLC media player

You need to update your codecs. Search for Community Codec Pack on Google and install it. It may also depend on your computer. For example, lower end netbooks cannot play HD videos.

Thank you all so much for your replies and advice. Yes I downloaded CCP and I can now view my videos - but only on Windows Media Classic - doesn't work on VLC for some reason.

At least I can view them. Many thanks.

Have made a couple of video clips. Yes I can view them on Windows Media Classic and Windows Media Player - two things. When I take a video in portrait mode, the video ends out sideways (as if I've filmed it turning camera on it's side) and also the sound is very erratic and sounds like a bunch of martians talking!

What am I doing wrong. Sorry to be such a pain to keep asking advice.

Thanks

What I mean about the image is, that even if it's in portrait, the image comes out sideways - like the person is lying down, if you get what I mean.

You'll have to rotate it using software. I think Windows Movie Maker can do it if you don't have a video editing software. I don't think your phone supports taking videos in portrait mode.

Finally sorted, now can view ideo in VCL. I think Ihave to film in landscape mode - turning camera on side. Anyway it works and sound is now ok.

Thanks for your advice
