Help Transformer Pad 300 Not charging or turning on EVER!

savvymom

Lurker
I have tried both charging via computer and wall and nothing happens. When holding down the power button DEAD. I went to a retailer today and they tried to plug into their computers and it was not recognized. What can I assume is the issue? I read about battery replacement or could it be the docking ribbon that needs replacing? So frustrated!

Hmmmm.... Let me share my experience.

I made the mistake of letting my tablet run completely down to the point where it would not turn on or anything. I let the tablet charge for about 8 hours just to make sure it was charged. I pressed the power button but it would not turn on. I thought my tablet was fried. Turns out it wasn't, thankfully. I had to hold the power button down for 20 or 30 seconds before it finally turned on.

Hopefully you're tablet is charging and holding down the power button for 20 or 30 seconds turns it on.

You said the you took it to a retailer. Did they use your cable or did they use a different one? If they used your cable then your cable may very well be bad.

Please tell me the person at the retail store tried a different TF300 cable.

If you haven't tried a new cable then you need to do so. Data/charging cables go bad all the time. I bought a backup cable off Ebay the 2nd day I had my tablet. I only bought the cable w/o a plug and it wasn't very expensive. Chances are your plug is still good and only the cable has gone bad.

Something else you need to take into consideration. The TF300 models need a special 15v charger plug. A regular phone plug will charge the tablet but it will take forever. Trying to charge from a computer will take an eternity too. Didn't know if you knew that or not so I thought I would throw that out there.

I hope this has helped you out and you are able to get your tablet up and running again. :)

Thanks so much. Finally it did juice up and is holding charge however I can barely read it. the brightness level is so dim. I have adjusted the level to the highest and seriously at this point unless I am in a dark room it is better as a mirror. Suggestions? I will dig through this forum for guidance. I am sure others experience the same.

You may have the auto light sensor on. Turn it off. I'm not running the stock ROM right now but I'm almost positive there are 2 settings that will cause the tablet to do that. One is the auto light sensor and there is another that I can't think of right off hand. lol It's been a very long time since I've ran the stock ROM.

Glad to hear that your tablet isn't dead though.

I'm going to send you a PM. Check your inbox.
