Transformer Released

Currently it's on sale in Taiwan for $15k NT which is approximately $500 USD, and the keyboard is $3k NT which is about $100 USD.

That's for the 32gb version. this is suppose to be a 16gb version and a version with 3G built in.

since they said price range from $400 to $700 USD I'm guessing the 16gb will be $400, 32gb $500, 16gb 3G $600, 32gb 3G $700 USD.

This looks pretty sweet, but what's going on with that $200-$250 priced netbook running android from Asus? To me that seems like the better buy.

They should release some info for the US release on the 30th (forgot where I heard that, maybe the same site as the link below). But it seems the base Transformer tablet is going to cost $400 in the US, with the keyboard going for an extra hundred. http://www.netbooknews.com/22487/asus-transformer-on-sale-in-taiwan-at-a-great-price/.

Why aren't more people talking about this tablet??? It seems to be better than the Xoom wifi (same specs more or less, IPS, cheaper, can also use as a laptop, but you don't have to).

Anyway, I can't wait to get mines. Had my eyes set on the Slider, but this one has invaded by head over the last few days.

Isn't it only the Slider (the one with the permanently attached keyboard), Transformer, and Memo (the 7 inch one)?

Yeah, I think this could be the one for me. But maybe I'm more comfortable with ASUS products ( monitor, dvd burner, motherboard.... ) than the average Joe. I don't need a big Manufacturer's name behind a product as much as I need a company with a reputation that makes cool stable gear.

Plus, the specs are right there with the other Android tablets. Is it missing anything ?

I'd kinda forgotten about this one for a while with the whole avalanche of tablets, but I really like this one.

Now that it has Honeycomb on it and a rough idea of pricing I am really interested! Asus has put an awful lot into this tablet and it has the keyboard dock. I believe the keyboard dock has a SD card slot and USB port too. Sounds like ASUS is paying attention. :)

It's going to be $399 CDN from what I read, I was blown away by the specs. Who needs a 32GB one when there's a microSD slot not to mention TWO USB slots? 16GB is fine for me and I can add another 16GB or 32GB sdcard later (8GB is what I have now laying around waiting to be used). The detachable keyboard is what I like about this particular tablet, I may have to take a look at this, I like my little MSI Netbook (it's pretty slim and about 3.5 lbs, the Transformer+keyboard is said to be 2.2 lbs).

Now if Honeycomb gets some fixes soon...

Has anyone found pictures of the sides of this device? Like where the USB ports are and SD card? From what I'm understanding it sounds like they will all be on the tablet peice and the keboard is only a keyboard/battery extender?

Here's a slashgear article with some pics.

There are two USB 2.0 ports on the keyboard. None on the tablet. The idea for one of them is to use with a mouse if you want to (from what I read).

The tablet has one microSD slot. The keyboard has one SD/SDHC/MMC card slot. And there's a video in a thread here showing a movie playing off an SD card (guessing off the root folder name) on the tablet alone, so it seems there's no Xoom problem.

But it also has free (for a year and $4.99? a month afterwards) 'Unlimited' (we'll see :D ) Asus web storage. So you can stream music and videos.
