Help Transformer wont power up

I have been dealing with the power button issue for a couple of months now. I have just found some painful work arounds to get by with since I dont really want to send it back to ASUS and then get another broke one.
I believe its the actual hardware that is messing it up. When mine started failing at first it was just occasionally it wouldnt work and then all of a sudden it was all the time. I never tried any resets or anything because I just always assumed it was a faulty button that was the issue.
If anyone knows any solutions that I may have not tried I would be gald to listen. Also I am interested in hearing if the factory reset that the above poster mentioned worked for him.
The only thing that kind of works is I downloaded an app that puts it into sleep mode for me but waking it up can be troublesome. Using the up or down volume keys will usually do the trick.
Does anyone know of any apps that you can use on an unrooted pad that can wake up a sleeping tablet or maybe I could re-map the power button to the volume button. One of the other things that is a bummer with this is I have no way to reboot the system without a functioning power button so if I want to reboot it for some reason I just have to burn the battery down.

Update to my wake up issue.
I was thinking of trying hard reset or factory reset but gave one more try to turning screen lock off from setting. Now that problem went away! Now it always wakes up instantaneously by slight touch of power button. It's working charm like this for couple of weeks and I keep fingers crossed! But next time I encounter this, I will definitely do reset.

I would do a factory reset to wipe the tablet now since it seems like a software glitch - the screen lock setting should have no effect on how the power button wakes the tablet. I've had no issues with the TF and I attribute a lot of it to doing factory resets after firmware updates. I know it's a bit of a hassle doing the reset and then setting up the tablet again, but it helps to avoid issues like this.

I have a "B50" model. I upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1 with no issues, then to 3.2 with no factory resets. I've had ONE issue where it wouldn't turn on- apparently the battery got rundown completely because it was low and I forgot to plug it in but left it on at night..

I do a complete shutdown every 3-4days or so, just to clear any weird stuff out of the RAM.

I've noticed that to turn mine on you hold the power down for 2-3seconds but nothing appears on the screen until I let go of the power button...

I returned one for this issue. It was running 3.2 as best I recall.

It would not boot up for anything. I did not know about the power button + volume up? Is that supposed to be the way to do a hard reset, or what is that?

I did take it to the BB where I purchased it and plugged it into a demo model's power cord and it got nothing also. That is when I returned it.

Not a problem so far with the new one, which I have had for about a month. That's how long the first one lasted.

I would like some direction from Asus, too. I have a number of Asus products and am happy with most of them. Who knows who actually makes the tablets, or anything else, for that matter? Still, it is a brand with a good reputation. I hope they don't blow it with the Transformer.

What exactly do you lose with a factory reset?
I would be willing to try this but I just want to know what I am actually losing first.

I contacted ASUS today and they told me to send in the model. The battery is at 0. The Transformer TF-101 turns on briefly and then, failing to charge, turns off again. This is the same behavior whether the wall adapter is used or it is on USB power. Also, the dock doesn't charge up either. This seems really strange and would indicate that I must have a bad cable - or is the dock controlled by updated firmware and hence it fails, too?

I've had the Transformer for a while. Updated from 3.0 to 3.1 - no problems. Updated to 3.2, ran it all day on battery power, and then it wouldn't charge.

ASUS has some design problem that requires so many Transformers to fail in this way.

Brand New out of the Box from Best Buy on thanksgiving day.. What a bummer.. ASUS does not power up.. F*** you ASUS.. Read so many reviews online and assumed it was kind of the best out there.. Duh!! Going to Best buy right away..

I had issues with what I thought were power issues, but is likely a software glitch of some sort. If I have the unit unplugged, and switch auto-brightness off, the screen shuts off. Works fine if plugged in, and no battery issues. I initially thought it was the whole unit, but it is just the screen - if I'm playing a video when I do this, I can still hear it playing.

Discussed here.http://androidforums.com/asus-eee-pad-transformer/447749-screen-shuts-off-if-not-plugged.html

I have a four day old tablet and just experienced this problem the same day I installed a folio case (note I have automatic brightness turned off). I was into my second day without a charge, so I initially figured the battery had died on me. Went through all the long button presses and volume +/- combinations, with and without the power plugged in, to no avail, even after removing the microSD card. Finally, I figured I'd try plugging the tablet into my computer to see if I could get any response over USB.

With the tablet plugged into the wall, I removed the USB end of the cable from the wall connection and the tablet immediately came on with everything running where I had left it with 67% battery (the last reading I saw before it went into a coma). I still had the microSD card out when I did this. It's now charging at 91% as if nothing happened.

I was experiencing the reboot to wake from sleep issue as well. I set the screen to lock immediatley upafter the screen turns off and i havent had the issue for a few days.
