Transition from Nexus to Note 2

Android Enthusiast
Hi guys, I am new to this forum.

I am absolutely in love with anything Android. I love my Galaxy Nexus! However, Note 2 just came out and I am very tempted to get it as it seems like an amazing device. Is it a good switch??

I have a question... I am not that familiar with rooting and whatever, so my Nexus is stock. I've had it for about a year and since I have had to factory restore it twice. In that process it seems that all my free apps and apps I paid for reloaded back. Music and Pictures were gone, along with apps which are paid, that my friend has sent me links for (I am guessing someone ripped them)... Is there a way to back these apps too, along with my photo albums, music, txt messages, etc. so when I get my Note 2 I can just have an easy transition.

I would really really appreciate your help, guys. It's the only thing so far stopping me from getting it...

And one more question.. you know how since Nexus is a Google phone, I did something to get updates directly from Google... I am guessing Note 2 isn't the same... will I be able to somehow get the updates on it without having to wait forever for Samsung to push it? I don't mind rooting it and whatever is required if steps were provided. I am pretty savvy ...

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to some responses... NEW TOY!! I can hardly wait to get it!! I am also happy to be here... I am sure I will have tons of questions...

thank you thank you!!

Hey miss vickies. :)

For backing up your things you'll want to check this app out My Backup Pro
there's also a free evrsion if you'd like to check that one out.
As for the updates, I think it's different on devices and it's probably up t Samsung or your carrier on when the updates get pushed out for the Note 2. I hope this helps. :)

Both devices are totally cool. However, it all comes down to what you are expecting from a device. There are a lot of reviews online comparing both devices. (Having the device in the hand and playing around with it make the decision that much easier).

As for any applications that wasn't downloaded from the Google Play Store, the only way of getting those back would be to reinstall them just as you did before. Usually...a "factory reset" doesn't delete your music, pics, videos, etc unless you checked the box that would actually delete files on the sd card. I'm not sure of how you'd be able to get those back. However, here is an application that will show you everything that is on your sd card.

Even if you root the device, you would still have to wait on the developer of that Rom. Sometimes waiting on Google or your carrier for the official update isn't so bad.

I understand. Feel free to ask away. :)
