Help Trasparent google search bar

I'm on my second RMHD. (1st one had speaker problems). On my first one I tried several different launchers and got my search bar to be transparent even on the stock launcher by using a different launcher's widget. For the life of me I cannot figure out how I did it so I can add it to my new phone.
Any one know how its done??

Nova Launcher. Remove the default google and add in nova's Google search.
