Traveling cross country and laughing at "nationwide" coverage.

I have an LG Motion. I got on I-40 in CA traveling east and ever since then I haven't seen the 4g or EV icons on my phone once.

It's nor like I haven't been in major cities either. Flagstaff, AZ. Albuquerque, NM. Amarillo, TX. Oklahoma City, OK. Ft. Smith, Ark. What gives?

My next and last stop is Jackson, MS where I'll be staying for two weeks and I'm wondering if there's any Metro coverage there. I don't hae a computer and I can't view the Metro coverage map on my phone.

It looks to me like Jackson is Extended Home Area for Metro.

It also looks like several larger cities along 40 were, at least on Metro's coverage map,
extended home areas so I'd think you'd get an EV at least.

No one ever said Metro was Nationwide.

Metro did claim to cover 95% of the Nation though. :/

You need to change your PRL to 3033 or 9033 to get access to Sprint's 3G.

Well Then, they lied.

This was when LTE first came to Metro. I remember seeing billboards everywhere and I was always one to point and go "neener neener neener". Hahaha

But yeah it's obvious from just looking at the coverage map that the 95% is not very accurate. lol

I have traveled up I-35 from Dallas to Des Moines and then I-80 to Davenport, IA and had 1x the whole way (this was a year ago when I didn't have the motion, so only had the Optimus M+ with 3G). We also had talk and text. So, in that sense, yes we had coverage the whole trip. We just didn't have 3G data. Having 1x did stink, but we at last did have data. Oh, this was also before the advent of the special prl's like 9033.

They had been talking about covering 90% of the population not of the whole nation area and with MetroUSA( Home and Extended Home) they cover 280 million people. 280/315= .89 = 89%

We cover 90% of all Americans - that's over 280 million people. And we do it for the lowest price of any nationwide network. Coverage of over 280 million population based on 2012 Experian data.
Of Americans not America. That's from the Metro website, that's for voice they cover much more with text and then data in some areas

ROFLMAO!!!
Geeze... thanks a lot Bruce. I just sprayed beer all over my screen and keyboard when I read that post.
(Hey - it's 5:45pm here... so it's PAST '5 O'clock "somewhere" :D )

If you're able to get a Speedtest to finish in each area, those figures would be interesting along with the type of coverage showing.

Add Little Rock, AR and Jackson, MS as no 4G cities/states.
I'm thinking that only the major 19 markets have 4g.
Why would you get 4G when roaming on Sprint. Only areas with native metro coverage have 4G so no areas in extended home have 4G since thats Sprint.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why you would think places not listed as having 4G would have 4G, maybe I'm missing something?
