Triggering the assistant with a button

Hello. I recently wanted to get my father the Google assistant on his old LG G2 mini, but he absolutely refuses to say "OK Google" or even "Hey Google". The obvious solution (other than some hotword changing shenanigans, which I don't think would necessarily help in his case) would be if there was a widget icon I could place on his home screen which would trigger the assistant upon pressing as if the hotword were said. Is there a way to have such a thing? I couldn't find it when looking in the Play store. If there is, I'd appreciate being pointed to it.

Never mind, I found it. All I need to do is press the microphone button in the google search bar, and that works for the assistant. Still, a larger button that I could place somewhere on its own would be nice to have.

Long press on the home button also brings up assistant, and it is always there on every screen (except full screen, but I'm assuming he's figured that out :D )
