Trillian for android

the beta for Android has been out for a few days/weeks. I think I must have gotten it from a link on gizmodo a week or so ago. It is still a bit buggy, but the update they pushed out a few days ago seems to have made it less so.

Trillian for Android

ah. beat me to it earlymon.

Im using Trillian since the Beta Release and its fine i think specialy since i got issues with Gtalk :S the battery drain isnt that much and im connected to WLM and Talk, sometimes Facebook.

Tried Trillian on my phone again .....crashes.....damm ... switched to eBuddy for the moment till trillian releases its final version ....... eBuddy is better than Numbuzz, not sure about palringo

I'm finding that while running Trillian (I believe Yahoo! Messenger does the same), when the phone sleeps it seems to take down the Trillian Yahoo! Messenger connection. So I get Yahoo! messages while Trillian is running in the background, but then after a while I stop getting them. Anyone else having the same issue? Is it an IM issue, an Android issue, etc? Any workaround? The Trillian icon displays in the notification tray, but that apparently doesn't mean it's truly still running. The only way I start getting messages working again is by suspending the app and then restarting.

Jsut a heads up Trillian (last time I looked) is still in Beta, so there may still be some bugs with it. As far as the connection dying when your phone sleeps, make sure you have the Wifi set up to never to go to sleep. This will most likely keep the trillian connection running in the background.

Yeah you are correct, it's in beta. I think Yahoo! Messenger (client) does the same. I do have Wifi set to never sleep. Was hopeful someone ran into this issue and came up with a solution.

Have you tried posting this on the Trillian forums as well?

I use Trillian on my computers (and have for many years), but I haven't yet used it on my phone, so I'm not much help I'm afraid.

i have the same problem with trillian....its kinda annoying actually.....i only get messages when my screen is lit....if my screen goes to sleep so does trillian......i have to keep openning trillian to see if there are new messages and true enough.....more often than not there are.

Thanks Early!

I noticed even opening the Trillian window doesn't work for me. I literally have to sign out of Trillian or use the Suspend option, then relaunch, and poof I get messages.

I've currently got trillian and I quite like it but I've noticed it drains the battery far more than I'm comfortable with. I'm lucky to have the internet right now so I can't try out palringo, anyone have some feedback for the two? Or another good IM client that supports facebook, msn and gtalk. I've tried nimbuzz, ebuddy, meebo and the like.

Thanks in advanced (:

Try IMO.im. It's supposed to be push, so should be better for your battery.

I have it installed but haven't had to use it since I installed it.

I wanted it for the push and also for Skype IM.

So, trillian comes out of beta and it turns into a $5 buck app.

I'm just mildly frustrated. That is all. Simply voicing my frustration.

Equally frustrated. Though, I guess now chat is integrated into Facebook, there's not too much need for anything else -for me anyway, I don't use anything other than AIM & Fb.

My beta seems to still seems to be working. Just use that. It works fine if you can live without updates.

yep.. that's what i'm doing. going to use the old version until it goes ka-put.

You didnt think it would stay free forever did you?

I was actually annoyed with the last beta, it was many times not resuming after being unopened for a while. Then if i logged off it would reconnect fine.

I finally decided to buy beejive thinking i will wait for the next trillian beta(oops)

I still liked the UI of trillian better but beejive has been working great FWIW

I posted in one of the other threads that the developers responded to me that it'd probably be the same price as the ipod app ($5) when it comes out of beta.

Shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone. Trillian is a paid app on both windows and ipod.

When I used this years ago on the PC it was a paid application. It isn't bad but not $5 above and beyond others (for what I would use it for).

$5 whole dollars... How dare they... <-- Yes that's sarcasm

App developers get bitched at when they have ads, and bitched at when they charge, a lose lose I guess.

I just installed it. It uses your notification default sounds for IMs. Runs smooth, not a battery hog.
