Does the Nexus One not support speed dialing or custom MP3 ringtones? I've looked all over the phone for this and can't find it.

You can create shortcuts to your contacts on your homescreen.

To make/use custom MP3 ringtones, try the app 'RingDroid'

Discovered the icon thing for contacts on my own though I think it sucks compared to standard speed dialing. Thanks for Ringdroid though. Extremely easy to use.

You don't even need ringdroid, just create a media/audio/ringtones folder structure on your SD card.

A media/audio/notifications and a media/audio/alarms folder is useful too.

You can also hold down the search button to launch voice search and say, "call [whoever] at [work, home, mobile, etc]". The phone usually gets it and automatically calls the right number. If it isn't sure it brings up a search results page and the number is usually the first one.

Since the search bar will technically allow you to do anything, I know someone who used metamorph to hide everything but his searchbar... however with voice search being so new and still fairly unrealiable I'm not daring enough to apply it.
