This is what I used [ROOT][NCIQ][EG30/EG31/EK02] Auto root your existing stock ROM (w/o ODIN/ROM Flash) - xda-developers

Rooting the phone probably did screw up some of the files. Today I tried everything. I re-installed all my pre-installed apps via Titanium backup and un-rooted it. Restarted it a few times. Now when I click update Android it tells me my system is up to date. I tried manually installing 2.3.6 stock and pre rooted and nothing but that picture of the triangle and the Android.

Here's starnostar solution in brief.

If you have CWM (Clockwork Recovery Mod) here's how to clear the nagging install message and prevent it coming back.

FIRST:

If you use Swype it may cause you a problem with adding uppercase I to "dIsable" causing command not recognized. Open any input such as google search (any input that open the keyboard will do). Touch and long hold on the input until the input method dialog pops up. Change to Samsung keyboard. YOu can change back to Swype afterwards.

NEXT:

install/open terminal emulator
At the $ prompt type
Code:
su
Prompt changes to root prompt # (proceed with caution)
Next type
Code:
pm disable com.samsung
and close the terminal emulator. To re-enable use
# pm enable com.samsung

FINALLY:
Install the update, it will fail on reboot.
Hold down power and it will boot into CWM.
Clear the cache and reboot.

Your sanity will be now restored.
