Help Trouble sending mms

I am having trouble sending mms messages. I have tried in both handcent and the native messaging app.

I "add picture" and it says it converts it to multi media (286 kb). I type a short message to the person I am sending the picture and hit send.

It just sits there saying 'sending'. Eventually I delete the message.

I tried with with wifi on and it says did not send, service unavailable will send when service is available.

I have an X10a on 2.1 unlocked and run on the Telus network in Canada.

Anybody have any suggestions?

SMS works fine. My settings are to allow for data transfer but roaming is turned off.

thanks

I would think you haven't got the MMS settings right. A call to your carrier should confirm what you are supposed to have input under the APN section, they can sometimes send them to you as an SMS which installs the settings or you may need to manually put them in.

Does it only happen to a certain person/people?
If so maybe those people have a data restriction at certain times of the day were they cant receive that kinda stuff.
And you might have a data restriction to?

Most likely tho as rosered said you probably have the wrong settings.

are you using standard or handcent messaging app?

Check that MAXIMUM MMS SIZE is set to "DEFAULT 300k"

I had the same problem because i messed with the settings to sent upto 600k mms messages. Several calls to O2UK didnt work, resetting the mms settings via O2 ota didnt work either! I finally realised what i had done... after about 4days!! lol

This would appear to be the problem.

When I look in the APN settings the MMS port and proxy are not even set.

I will contact my carrier and see if their technical person can help.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Problem solved...

I found a post on the HTC Hero thread which listed the Telus APN settings including the MMS components.

I updated my APN settings to be the same and now the MMS works!

Thanks for the suggestions to check the APN.

Cheers

Can I suggest that you give the details or at least a link to the answer, it's always helpful for others who stumble across this thread looking for a similar issue or even to the odd phone guide who see's it asked again and knows where to refer back to!!

Thanks and really glad you got sorted.
