trouble with external keyboard

I have a transformer prime that i'm borrowing at work to test out some features.

I have it paired with a ZAGG keyboard that usually goes with an iPad. It paired alright and the arrow keys work, but i can't actually type.

For instance, when i press the E key, i get a prompt that asks if i want to complete the action using Gmail or Email apps. If i press C, then contacts open, L opens calendar and so on.

This happens even if i'm in an editable field. Any thoughts on how to turn these shortcuts off?

nevermind... apparently pressing the search key on the keyboard fixed it.

very strange.
