Trouble With MP4

Hi, I just got this machine and although it looks the part, and feels great especially the keyboard, I'm having a problem.
Can anyone tell me how to play MP4 clips on my Asus Ice Cream? I used search and found conflicting opinions. Do they need to be converted to another format? If so, which one? Or is there an app. I need?
I swapped my Toshiba AT100 for this machine and it played MP4 clips without any problems.
Did I make a mistake going for the Asus?
