Help Troubleshooting, hardware or software error

Psilobe

Lurker
I have a galaxyS on which I cant make any call and I need some help figuring out if it's software or hardware error.

The problem is that I cant call and send/receive sms. When trying to call I get the massage that no mobile network available. Looking in the settings I can see that it's set to gms/WCDMA and when looking for networks I only see one which is the wrong one.

Here is what I've done so far and other all info on the phone I got:

Dropped phone, broke screen -> manual replacement. In doing so I messed up the back and menu button.

Phone not being able to call -> me messing around in settings resulting in me doing a factory reset.

Later rooting the phone to be able to use Softkeys.

Countless starts, restarts and trials with different Sim cards, both new and old.

*#*#4646#*#* tells me I got a signal stregth of around 100dBM and 5-10 asu.

PDA: I9000XWJVH
Phone: I9000XXJIVO
CSC: I9000NEEv3

Wifi works w/o problem and except for me not finding my operator it's a lovely phone. Now I just want to figure out if it's broken hardware or software problem.

Are you sure about the CSC version being I9000NEEv3?

Please re-check, IMO it should be NEEJV3.

I would reflash the device with some other firmware preferably with some different CSC and then check it.

I'm with Ijaz Ahmed on this one. Your CSC is wrong. The CSC is the part of the firmware that carries the information for the networks and is region specific. Make sure you download the correct one for your region and Firmware.

Sorry was a misstype, CSC is I9000NEEJV3. Arrg would be so happy if that was my problem so I could finally know what's wrong. XD

Just to be absolutely sure, what country/region are you in? The reason I ask is that NEEJV3 is for Nordic countries and if you are not in a Nordic country, it would explain why your network operator isn't being detected.

Ray.

Flashed it with the new version and I can still only find the wrong network. Guess its hardware then. :(

Thanks for the help.
