True screen size?

Is it really 4.8"?

Here's what I mean. The Nexus is only 4.65 when watching videos and such. When web browsing it still only shows about 4.3.

Does anyone know if there S3 has a usable 4.8" screen during regular (non movie) use?

Gnex only has 4.3 available because of the buttons showing at the bottom. S3 has physical buttons below the screen, so unless Samsung is lying it does have a 4.8" screen.

Yes the screen size is really 4.8" as confirmed by the reviewers at GSM. However relatively speaking, the SGS3's full size (including the bezel and side lines) is roughly the same as the SGS2 (maybe a little bit bigger). So Samsung just made more efficient use of space to enlarge the screen.

I fully agree. Soft buttons are great for keeping the device small. The screen is 4.65 when it needs to be is a nice feature, but I do think a full time 4.8 is slightly better. I don't think it's bad either way, but probably better for 4.8 for games, internet, etc.
