Try Going Naked.

Dozens of cases will soon flood the market supposedly designed for the Nexus 7. All of the cases will have a few things in common. They will add considerable bulk to your device and in reality won't be very protective. My plan is to simply insert my naked Nexus 7 into a sleeve type pouch. I have ordered the Griffin

I will probably end up doing the same; just using a zip up sleeve for transport and going naked when I actually use it.

I no longer use cases on my stuff. So far so good...no scratches on my Gnex or Transformer and its light weight.

Same here, 4 months of going naked with my Gnex and absolutely nothing wrong with it. Looks like I just bought it yesterday!

I have a nexus s and it is still in perfect condition after over a year of use with no screen protector. I've only had a rubbery case that protects the back from scratches. These devices are built too well to worry about damage.

I was thinking the same thing. I've got a silicone/rubber case on my S2 and it does the job. I've seen a similar case for the Nexus 7 on eBay so might have a look at that. I've got a leather effect case at the moment with a folding cover, but it does add a fair amount of bulk and takes away some of the styling. I might hold out for the official case tho.

I'll be getting a case once I decide which one I really want. I don't have a case on my Droid X2 simply cuz I have a huge battery... but I have insurance on that. Accidents happen, so I'll be getting a case for my Nexus 7. Plus I have kids and nieces and nephews... its chaos when they're all here.

I didn't know which one I wanted... a sleeve or a case so I bought both.
I've never had a tablet so I'm not sure which one I'd appreciate more.
The fact that Google was pimping the N7's weight made me go sleeve
but if I'm tired and reading while I pass out
(laying on my stomach with the tab propped up next to me; it's the way I read now on my phone)
I'd like a case that props the tab up in either orientation.

I'll probably end up switching between the two depending on what I'm doing.

Naked with a sleeve for transport is what I did when I had the Nook Color and I think is also what I'll do now with the Nexus 7. I had a case that propped up and everything on my transformer tf101. I think it makes more sense to have a case on a larger tablet.

With the N7's rubber back and light weight I think leaving it naked is the best option. I'm thinking a nice simple real leather sleeve would be nice for when I take it with me somewhere.
