Root Trying to disable Verizon OTA updates

I've rooted my G3 and want to ensure that I don't take a lollipop upgrade - Kitkat works best for me. I've been able to make the notification go away for now, but want to ensure that I block any sneaky future OTA that tries to run on its own.

I found a tip that indicated I can get to my hidden menu using #228378 (send), and that does get me to the hidden menu, however, I believe I'm looking for a WLAN Test option that will allow me to get to an OTA Option that I can turn off, and that's not what shows on my screen.

What shows up on my screen is: Device Test, ELT Test, and Log Enable.

Is there another way I can knock out OTA's and maintain root?

Yes there is, but did you see that info from here?

Block
Open LGHidden Menu (3845#*851#) --> WLAN Test --> OTA Setting --> Disable
*Replace "851" with your devices model number, 850, 852, 855 etc.

This seems to only work on D851, D851 and D855 versions (possibly D857/8/9 and F400). AT&T, Verizon and Sprint users have reported the Hidden Menu method does not work. If you have one of those devices you can use a RootExplorer-type app to find the OTA related APK and rename the file to ____.apk.bak or use Titanium Backup to freeze it. If using Titanium Backup look for com.lge.lgfota.permission, OTA or System Update and freeze it. If looking for apk and odex file to rename.. search for OTA or FOTA or LGDMSClient.. etc

I did see that set of information (and it pertained to Tmobile I believe). I also found additional information elsewhere that pertained specifically to Verizon, but when I followed that, the hidden menu on my phone is quite limited and lacked the WLAN test option.

The information you provided showed the file name com.lge.lgfota.permission, and I went into AntTek App Manager and froze that. I believe you led me to the proper filename that I needed to find and freeze. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I'm done. Thank you for sharing that gem with me.

Quick follow up. That was exactly the filename I needed to find and freeze. I've had no more issues since last Thursday, so I'm in great shape now, and while I was ready to try the flashable zip as a nuclear option, I didn't even need to go that route because of what you shared. Thank you so much for helping me.
