Trying to fix my boyfriend's phone..and failed..

I had a similar thread that was posted within the HTC EVO 4g forums, but I figured that this may be a bigger problem since it seems to affect multiple phones.

He's having problems sending and receiving pictures. His HTC Evo 4G had the CyanogenMod 7. He had the mod for a couple of years, and it recently all of a sudden began to have issues with sending pictures.

So I figured that I could "fix" his phone....

I deleted the Telephony.db, and it still couldn't send or receive pictures.

I cleared the Delvik cache and the regular cache within the recovery mode. Still couldn't do it.

Then I loaded up a whole new rom in his phone. Still can't receive or send pics.

So, I'm wondering..what exactly can be wrong with his phone? It used to be on Sprint, but he had it flashed to Metro PCS. That was a while ago though, so I figure that shouldn't have anything to do with it - but it's still something important.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

True, I heard of that before..But I'm not sure of what APN settings are! Lol, I gotta learn what it is..Could you explain it to me...?

I think funky is right, it is probably a carrier setting. I moved the thread to the Metro PCS forum where I know some smart folks hang out and will see it.:)

Access Point Names (APN) are composed of several settings. These settings are essentially text fields that you must fill in in order to connect to data services. APNs exist because carriers broadcast and receive data over government regulated radio frequencies. Each phone must be specially configured to use these settings or otherwise potentially suffer from data connection issues, such as the inability to send MMS or use mobile data, which seems to be going on in your case.

Here you have the APN from MetroPCS

you need to have a custom mms.apk for metropcs, the rom you loaded up unless modded for metropcs wouldnt have it. the apn settings have to be correct as well with that mms.apk. the problem with flashed phones is things dont always work out well for them, mms tends to be a big one and of course no 4g and now in a year they wont work anymore.

I'm sorry if this is a noob observation but isn't that phone CDMA? Why she is being suggested APN setting? i thought CDMA phone uses PRL. Also those settings look exactly as my GSM settings. Just curious.

If its a metro pcs you need to update with *228 . and it may need manual programming of a sid number or the mdn . I know one of the ipv need to be 4and 6. If I was you I would start looking for a used or new GSM as the famous shabby has said CDMA will be the thing of the past . GSM would be the future .

PRL tells which towers to connect to but on GSM that's pushed automatically to the SIM. The APN tells where to send the data to through the network.

hmm so my question is the OP having a CDMA phone, is APN applicable to her particular case?
