Help trying to root my phone or get the JB Update

It says i need to root my phone for the jelly bean update. Whether that's true or not i want my phone rooted lol if you have a way without. A computer it would be awesome my phone is an lg venice
 
If your rooted on ics download ota rootkeeper before updating it will restore root after the update and I gaurantee it works I did it on my gf venice and it worked I also did it on my galaxy rush it works try it
