Trying to Upgrade LG G3 D850

Don't laugh.

All I'm trying to do is upgrade an old LG from Android 5.0 to 6.0. That's it.

I've got the drivers installed. I've downloaded three different versions of Flash Tool. The only one I got to do anything was "Flash Tool 2014".

The first time I ran it (following the directions on the web page where I found it), I picked "CDMA", "DIAG", and "CSE Flash". I was able to pick "Other Country" and "English" and got the phone to start installing. However, it only got as far as 4% and gave me an error. Now, when I run it, I pick "Other Country" and can't even pick a language. They're all blank. If I continue, all the messages consist of Question Marks, however, it still gets as far as 4% before stopping.

The phone is bricked in Download Mode. I've tried all the solutions that Google offered: I have tried two different USB cables, two different computers, one of which has Windows 7 & 8.1 installed. I've tried all different USB ports to make sure I'm on USB 2.0 and not 3.0. I've tried running in Administrator Mode. I've even tried to put the wx.dll file in the Phone folder.

What else can I possibly do?

where did you get the firmware from? can you post a link? was this made specifically for you device? what happens when you try to boot the phone up?

Even LG is no help. They tell you how to go into Settings and Check for Upgrade. My guess is that hasn't worked since 2017.

The file that I'm using is D850PR30a_00_0209, which, I believe is the AT&T USA version.

The phone is currently in "Firmware Update" mode. I can't do anything with it. If I remove the battery and put it back in, it goes right back into the Download mode.

I know this "4% problem" was/is a common theme with Flash Tool. There are several posts in the internet regarding it. The common solution I could find was to download a "wx.dll" file and place it in C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX\Phone, however that didn't work for me in either Windows 7 or 8.
 
well the thing is firmware is VERY device specific.....so you need to make sure that you are flashing the correct firmware. i have never owned an LG phone so my expertise in the flash tool is very limitied.
 
Well after finally taking the time to sit down and figure this thing out, and ignoring all the warnings, clicking on the link to download the .dll file gives me nothing. I don't know if the link is dead, or my anti-virus is kicking in, but I can't try the LGUP because I can't get the .dll file.

And what boggles my mind even more is, the article was written in 2014. The LG Flash Tool has been updated since then, Therefore, why wouldn't the Flash Tool be a more recent and reliable method than the LGUP tool?

looks like its your anti-virus program....i was able to get the download with no issue.
