Trying to use Bluetooth Near

I'm trying to get a profile working for when I get home that my Sonos system automatically starts to play music - apart from when my wife is home.

I've set my profile up with an inverted BT near and wifi connected states, which then should trigger the task.

My problem is that the task wont trigger in this way, but it will if I dont have the BT near inverted (set as normal).

Has anyone had any luck with BT near, or could help me progress this?

In my experience, BT near tends to be somewhat device-specific, and it's particularly troublesome when the other BT device is another phone (I'm assuming you're trying to detect the presence of your wife's phone and avoid playing music when she's around?).

That's right. I'm sure i'd get a right earful if my music kept on coming on when I got home.

I was hopeful that this method would work, otherwise I might have to give up on this and go through the arduous process of pressing a couple of buttons :D

Any chance you could activate a Tasker or IFTTT profile on the wife's phone? You could maybe set IFTTT to send you a text when she arrives home and when she leaves, which Tasker could use to set/unset %WIFEHOME, and you could use that variable value as a part of your conditional statement for playing music via Sonos.

OH...MY...GOD, that sounds like a great solution. I'll have a look at that, but no reason why it shouldn't work :)

Many, many thanks

Let me know how it goes. I'm still very much getting started with IFTTT and constantly on the lookout for new ways to use it. :D

When I try to create the task for this, should the variable set & unset for %WIFEHOME be in the same task?

Assuming that the email subjects you're checking for exactly match, yep! Looks like it should work.
