Help Turn 3G/Edge/GPRS ON-OFF in Galaxy apollo.

I recently Purchased Samsung galaxy apollo. I see an icon on top with symbol 'E' indicating the EDGE connection is active. Since the Internet data usage is not free for me through Edge/GPRS/3G, I would like to turn it off when not required.

So for achieving that I installed APNDroid app to switch 3G/EDGE/GPRS on and off. But even I turn on the switch in the app my Edge connection is not re established. I need to restart the app to activate it. However turning off works fine.

Is there any other app or method that can help me to reestablish the connection without restarting the phone?

Please help

I did have an APN switch app that I'd downloaded, but I found it was also switching off MMS capability (despite saying that it wouldn't).

So I've gone for the laborious method of switching it off through the Settings menu > Wireless > Mobile networks > APNs > (my APN) > APN type (at the bottom). I've changed it from Internet & MMS to just MMS. Yes it's a whole heap of menus to navigate, but that means I think twice about switching data usage back on ;)

+1 to what Tigsteroonie said. That's really the foolproof way to do it. Those apps on the market have never worked for me.

If you ever consider rooting, then consider the program called Droidwall. With this I can block all apps except for the ones I want accessing the internet. So right now I have all apps have access to internet on wifi, but on 3G I have only my browser and my SMS application able to use data. Saves me from those annoying apps that decide they want to cost me $$~!
