Turn apps on/off with AC connection

Hey everybody,

New Tasker user here, trying to get a fairly simple function to work.

I installed a Galaxy Tab 2 in my car (rooted), that flips up when you turn on the ignition. I'm using it primarily for DashCommand, and I'd like that app to automatically load when AC power is connected. And then when AC power is disconnected, I want it to close.

It wouldn't be a huge deal for it to stay running, but it keeps the screen on automatically - so the battery would drain very quickly when I'm not driving.

I've gone through some tutorials, but most of them seem to be a different version and the interface looks different enough that I can't really follow it on mine. I've tried getting this to work on my own without much luck.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, or just lay out the profile for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Context:
State/Power/Source/Any

Task:
App/Load App/Choose your app(DashCommand)

Exit task probably:
App/Go home (that should exit the app and go to home screen)
+
Display/Timeout (set to a few seconds out whatever you like)
(If you don't care if it go to home screen then just Display/Timeout should be good)

Thanks very much for the reply. I played around with it some more after I posted and actually got it working. Although, I used the "kill app" task instead of "Go home". I didn't see the Go Home task when I was going through it.

Anyway, I was thinking that a better option for turning DashCommand on and off would be to use the accelerometer. Since the tablet flips up and down, I figured I could get the app to turn on when it's up and then off when it's face down.

Unfortunately, I can't get this to work. This is the profile I was using:

State/Sensor/Orientation/Face Up ---> App/Load App DashCommand

Exit Task:

App/Kill App DashCommand

My tablet sits at a 90 degree angle when it flips up in the car, and I don't know if the accelerometer needs to see the tablet closer to 180 degrees, or not. Although, Tasker is not shutting down the app when it's completely face down, either.

Any idea if this will work at all on the Galaxy Tab 2? Is the profile correct?

Thanks again!

Not 100% sure but I think face up mean facing up (180* from face down).
Let me try it on my tab

EDIT: Just did a test profile and the app does open but only with tablet facing up (as in facing the sky)
90* did not open the app.

Yeah, same thing with my Razr Maxx. So, opening the app with the accelerometer is out, but what about shutting it down when the tablet flips down? Even using my phone I could not get Tasker to close any apps using the orientation option.
