Help Turn off "updates" under People

I don't have this phone yet, but is it possible to completely turn off the "updates" functionality in the People app? I don't use Facebook or Twitter, so I don't really have a need for that.
 
When your setting up your phone for the first time it will ask you to enter your social networking sites that you want the phone to sync with. If you don't enter any it won't sync with any.
 
Oh OK. Thank you. Will that button or "tab" still be present when I go to the People app? Or is there a way to customize it so that it is hidden from view?

This is nitpicking, I know. Just curious. Thanks again.
 
Hmm.. the only tab that I see in the People app that would relate to any type of social networking is Online Directories. I'm sure that won't go away as it lists Flickr and Twitter in there and I don't have either one of those setup to sync.
