Turn the S3 into a wifi hotspot?

Hi all,

Was just wondering if anyone knows a way or an app that can turn the S3 into a wifi hotspot? By that, I mean extend my home wifi and not use tethering?

Our router is downstairs and I hardly get a signal in the bedroom, so would like to connect to the phone to the wifi, leave it on the landing and then connect the pc to the phone. So basically a booster.
 
Why would it not be a good idea? So long as the security is good there shouldn't be any worries. Battery will drain like a mofo but no different than tethering.
 
Seems like a pita to do what you want. I believe tethering disables your wifi connection anyway. I don't think you can be connected to a wifi network an& broadcast a network at the same time.
 
youre right. it only has one wifi radio so its not possible to accept multiple connection.. you need a dedicated unit
 
Seriously! Buy an Asus Dark Knight N66U router. This will likely solve all your issues.
I had issues with reaching the furthest parts of my home and the Dark Knight just rocks. Solid connections everywhere. I also can stay connected to my home network from about 150ish yards away. I live in an area with 5+ acre lots and I am positive that I could get reasonable signal at ALL of my neighbors homes. I stay connected to my home wifi till all the way down the street now (bummer when using a VOIP client in the am to take work calls. It stays connected to wifi then transfers to 4G but drops the calls. I have to remember to turn wifi off when leaving home.)
 
Unfortunately that isn't possible. You can either emit a WIFI signal, or receive a WIFI signal, as phones do not have more than one WIFI radio. That is also the reason why when you tether your data, you have to turn your WiFi off.

If you have connection issues at home for weak signals, ensure the router is positioned in an appropriate place, away from any interferences. Alternatively, depending on where you use your devices more, try to move the router accordingly. If that isn't possible, I'd suggest you to buy a better router with stronger signals.
