Help Turned itself off?

Rooted with lollipop.

This morning the alarm was meant to go off at 7am but I awoke to find the phone was turned off, and it took a few power button presses to turn it back on?
Somewhere in this endeavour it's also lost 8% battery as well now at 92% it was unplugged and fully charged as I went to bed.

Any ideas?

A couple of questions thequeenscheese ...

1. Are you on a custom kernel and if so, which one?

2. Are you on a custom ROM for Lollipop or stock, rooted, TouchWiz firmware?

UK non branded lollipop from sammobile:

Kernel version
3.4.0-3624618
Dpi@swdd6114#1

Build number
LRX2T.G900F_5.0_0002

Sorry build no. Is
Lrx2t.g900fxxu1boa3 (I think that should be... LRX21T.G900FXXU1BOA3)
Muddled it with a different line tut

That is both a stock, Samsung, kernel and firmware and so therefore, I'm guessing that you used just a custom recovery to root your phone. I tried this when Lollipop first came out and found it to be a little, "flakey", and I encountered a fair few random problems. I have since switched to ktoonsez's latest TouchWiz kernel for Lollipop, Android 5.0, and my phone has been rock solid since then. Take a nandroid backup before flashing it.

Hmm maybe it's not that at all, it's just done it again but as ud had a missed call the led was flashing blue but the phone refused to wake up until I long pressed power to restart the device?

I have totally removed all unneeded apps from my phone, no AV or battery monitors anymore, not even GSAMonitor, I think that one is using more power than it is worth.

I have Qi chargers on all my phones, and I use BT on nearly all of my calls, especially if I am sitting at my computer desk. The phone gets plopped down on the Qi charging pad and confuses GSAMonitor to the point it is useless. Too many partial charges from 60 or 80 or 90 to a few points more while on the phone...

with me always turning off the radios when the phone is asleep, my phones get great battery life per charge. My wife's is the easiest to make definitive discussions on, she only uses it to talk to our family. Nothing else, with MacroDroid keeping DATA and WiFi turned off, the battery lasts about 8 or 9 days between charges.
