Help turning off boot sound

SRQ_Chris

Lurker
Please tell me there is an easy way to turn off the boot sound on the ZTE Max. I was in the middle of lodge and my phone decided to reboot, cost me $20.
TIA
Chris

The T-Mobile zmax has boot & shutdown sounds. The MetroPCS version does not.
The only way to disable the boot sound requires rooting the phone. While the decision is ultimately yours, I would not advise rooting your phone just for this reason alone. The zmax is not very kind to people who are new to rooting and modifying their devices. From what I have seen, at least a dozen people have made mistakes and bricked their phones and this is only counting people who are forum members who are asking for help. It is entirely possible and very likely that there are many more that we do not know about.

I am having reverse issue... I am on metro and wish to have a boot sound ..tried adding mp3 to system media audio.. But can't get it to work ... What am I doing wrong...thanks

Its possible you may need to change permissions on the boot sound or what you name the startupsound.ogg etc... would like to do this myself but wasnt sure if it would cause problems on boot

If I remember correctly you were using one of the custom lollipop ROMs, which don't support boot sounds. Also, boot and shutdown sounds always need to be .ogg format. For example PowerOn.ogg & PowerOff.ogg

The file names are case sensitive also. Poweron.ogg, powerOn.ogg, & PowerOn.ogg are all considered different file names.
