Help Turning off data usage.

Newbie
Hi all, new to android and only smartphone we've ever had in house is one I-phone.

I am thinking of getting this phone for my daughter but wanted to check something first,

On my i-Phone even with data turned off it still eats away at my data allowance, the only way to stop it is to tell it a fake network name so it can't log on, this is a pain.

So my question is, will there be a way of stopping her phone from using data unless she wants it to without doing loads of moves in settings?

Someone mentioned installing an app that meant you could just turn it on off in one click, does anyone know what that is and if it works. If this a problem on all smartphones then I'm afraid she won't be getting one.

i think the app your looking for is
Data Enabler Widget

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5mYXJwcm9jLmRhdGEuZW5hYmxlciJd

however i never tierd it myself.

Thanks for that. Turning off data on my i-phone doesn't stop some apps using up my data allowance so have installed an APN app that alters the apn and stops totally stops all data.

The data enabler widget, when it turns off data on galaxy y will it stop the sneaky apps as well?

sorry not sure. my mum wants this phone on pay as you go and only wants to use wifi at home. the app above does turn it off, however free apps with ad may still use data. if no one can answers your question post this thread in either the Android Lounge or Android apps section.

Edit: found APN app for android
