Help Turning off startup tone

I have searched the threads and even did a topic search and can't find out how to turn off the sound it plays when the phone is turned on.
Any and all help is appreciated

Welcome to the forums, moosecop!
I'm thinking you have two options: 1)Be sure to silence your phone before turning it off (Not positive this will work, but imagine it will) or 2) Root and change the boot animation to something that's silent. The latter obviously more difficult and involved but will definitely solve the problem.

If you are rooted, you can delete the /system/media/boot/wakeup.mp3 file. If that causes the phone to stop booting properly, you could make a "silence" track in audacity or turn down the db in the file itslef.

If you are not rooted, you could put your phone in silent mode every time before you turn it off...
