Turning off updates?

My Verizon Charge includes TuneWiki pre-installed. It's an app I have no use for. It seems every week I get notified that there's an update to the software, and I get notifications nagging me to update. Is there a way I can either remove the app from my phone, or tell it to ignore all future updates?

First of all, welcome to the forums!

If I remember correctly, all VZW bloatware is locked down, meaning you can't uninstall it. I have the Galaxy Nexus, and even I can't uninstall the two or three apps they forced Google to include.

Since I am running ICS, this may not be true for you, but under the play store settings, I do have the option to stop notifications of apps that need to be updated. This would end notifications for all apps, not just the Tune Wiki one, but it may be the only way to get relief. You could set up all the apps you like for auto-updating, and this would solve the problem most of the time, except when those apps need a manual update due to permissions changing.

You might ask your fellow Chargians in the phone specific forum as well, here is the link:Samsung Droid Charge - Android Forums

Hope this helps!
