is there a category just for tutorial/guides/how to what ever u call it?

their should be one specif just to a certain android version, would help out a lot. thanks

A vast majority of the device sub forums should have guide stickies in them. It's something the Guide head honcho, Frisco, wants to get sorted soon - standardised guide stickies across all of the device sections.

Which phone do you own? Is there anything in particular you're stuck with?

The issue you might run in to there is that each manufacturer tweaks Android for their devices so a guide written for Android 2.3 on the HTC Desire might not really apply to Android 2.3 on the Samsung Galaxy S2.

At the core level, the versions are the same, but what works on would necessarily work on the other.

oh i understand now.. but making just a category called tutorials and sub categorizing the manufactours would be easier?

Again, the issue you'd face there is that the same Android version could also have different features across multiple devices by the same manufacturer.

It gets kinda complicated :p

To put it in perspective, Very very few Android devices come with just stock Android on them (Motorola DROID, Google Nexus family, including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and a handful of others).

The rest of the OEM manufactured phones have customizations that range from minor (adding a few apps here and there) to major (completely re-working the entire phone, including an overlay, a custom dialer app, contacts app, etc.), and distinguishing them is far from easy.

Add to that that there are literally hundreds of different Android-based phones, and you can see how having a general Phones section and then again having a separate set of folders (sub forums) for each phone in a general tutorial forum will be not only hard to maintain but also nearly impossible to keep track of.

I kinda do like your idea though for a general Android FAQ type section, but it would have to have huge disclaimers in every single post saying something to the effect of:
