Root [TWEAK][CM7] CM7 Customized Install Script - MIUI File Explorer, etc..

Hey All!

I wanted to put together these few changes and tweaks that I do for CM7. I tried to make it as simple as possible by putting it together in a CWM script.

Here is basically what it does:

  • Removes the old File Manager and replaces it with MIUI File Explorer
  • Removes the old Gallery3D. (Install QuickPic from the market)
  • Updates the MIUI Camera to the working one I posted here: (http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...mera-color-effects-fixed-works-ctmod-cm7.html)
  • Installs the Google Weather and News app
  • Installs Voice Search (It's required for most voice recognition apps. I was wondering why none of my voice recognition stuff wasn't working.)
  • Installs the Sound Recorder app (I can't live without this one :D)
  • Installs Street View for Google Maps
  • Installs Voice Dialer App
  • Installs the Music/Video stock app. Since it was having issues with some other apps I had.
  • Installs possible missing ringtones and or notification sounds that may have been removed. (If anything it merges them ;) )
  • Installs the CM7 Wallpaper app (required for wallpaper manager).
  • Installs the CM7 Wallpaper Manager.
  • Installs the CM7 Wallpaper Chooser.

Special thanks to Bloodawn for the MIUI files. He deserves the credit.
Thanks to Lordvincent 90 for the tweak script.

Use CWM to install!

update 3/26/2012:

  • I removed the 22Citbun script. It was actually making the 3G connections WORSE. When I removed it my 3G speeds skyrocketed. I did several flashes and reinstalls to confirm this. I suppose Hoark already tweaked the 3G quite a bit.

update 3/24/2012:

  • I had to put Voice Search as it is required for most voice recognition apps or text to speech apps.
  • I put back the old Music.apk as it was having issues with other apps.

I updated the script as Voice Search was required for speech to text and voice recognition apps. I also had to put back Music.apk as some apps were requiring it and certain conflicts occurred.

Already had voice search installed and backed up music apk before installing this. Bluetooth seemed to work fine without it though.

Does this also include the maps fix? Just curious.. I would love to keep trying to use the CM7, wish there was a fix for MMS... seems so weird how if I just disable the wifi it works fine but with wifi on it never gets sent.. maybe there could be a workaround script written to whenever you send MMS it automatically turns wifi off and then turns it back on after msg is sent? Is that possible? I know it's not a true fix.. but a workaround... again, just curious.

This doesn't include the mapfix since it's optional if people want /data on SD or not. I wouldn't want to force that on people.

The MMS over WIFI issue I think will never ever be fixed. It's been around for a long long time and the problem is so weird that folks haven't been able to figure it out. There used to be a discussion about it and some other network engineers took a look at it. It looked promising but it sorta died there and nothing much has happened since then.

I have a lot of respect for Hoark and I know he's looked at the problem night and day in the past. He's attempted to fix it several times but to no avail. I'm sure he's frustrated and at this point is moving on to other projects. Honestly, having to turn off wifi isn't so bad after awhile. You get used to it ;)

So don't expect it to be fixed anytime soon ;)

Yeah the voice search that is included is the latest one. I was wondering why all of a sudden I lost all voice recognition from my phone. I use it often as I'm lazy as hell, especially when typing texts.

I had some issues with other music apps that were requiring some form of music player installed. Apparently the MIUI File Explorer doesn't count for some reason. So when I put Music.apk back it worked fine. My bluetooth worked fine even without Music.apk. I merely put it back to fix the glitches with other apps.

Why did you make a backup of your Music.apk? Is it different then the standard one? Let me know I may give it a try.

I backed up the stock music file since your script said it was gonna removed it. I did this just in case bluetooth didn't work and I had to reinstall.

Oh the script no longer removes the stock Music.apk. Since like I said it was having issues before. I edited the script so that it no longer deletes it.

Updated to remove the 22Citbun script. It was actually making 3G connections worse.

For those of you that want to remove it, using a file explorer app go to /etc/init.d then delete the 22Citbun file.

The new zip doesn't have it included. I was wondering why my 3G connections were so terrible. I'm sure it's a great script but at least for me it was making things worse.

Updated 5/1/2012

  • Added required CM7 Wallpaper App.
  • Added CM7 Wallpaper Manager
  • Added CM7 Wallpaper Chooser

OK to install if I already have some of the apps? (Like street view, voice search etc.) Will it install over them OK?

Edit: never mind, seems to work great.

You should uninstall any of the above apps if you installed them from the market. My script will install them as system apps. If you do install the script with some apps already being installed then it will be overwritten with the ones in my script taking priority.

Just keep in mind that /system isn't infinite... If it gets too full, things will bog down :)
