Two issues...(cant find another thread,sorry!)

Sorry if these have been answered elsewhere!!!
Have just got xperia x10i after using an HTC hero for almost a year, so am familiar with android, I just cant find answers to these on this forum.

1) I am using googlemail. I used to get email notification instantly, like a blackberry. Now, I cant get instant notifications, I can only set it do constantly check. Is this correct? Dont seem to remember having that set up on my hero.

2) I can link my contacts to the corresponding facebook page, but does the photo not link? Again, on the hero they linked up no problem.

Again, sorry to be stupid or not looked hard enough. Thanks for any help everyone!

Welcome to SE version of android

You need to use timescape or another app from the market to link pictures to contacts with the gmail side? No idea but constant and instant sound like you will find out straight away if you get an email.

The gmail thing has worked itself out. Not sure what ive done, but its working now.
The facebook thing is annoying though!!!

facebook - contact picture

in address book
edit the contact
press menu button (left hand hard key)
press join, and select the facebook contact.
this will/should then add the facebook pic as the contact pic.
it will need to sync/update though
