Help Two mail icons one gmail

Hello,
I have had my note for 5 days. I had upgraded from an iPhone4 looking for a larger screen then the ip5. I am very happy and Android whilst strange to begin with has got easier to work with as the days go by.
I have one question that I have not figured out myself. There are two icons on the phone for email. One gmail and the other mail. I have both gmail (already put on my phone) and other email address that I have yet to add.
Can I delete the gmail icon and would the non gmail and the gmail just download to the remainder.
Thanks

Ok here's the deal:

1. Gmail is the GMAIL specific mail app. It's developed by Google and if you use Gmail, it's the ONE to use.

2. Email app is used for any other account. I think it CAN be used for Gmail but it's branded as Samsungs version. So you could set up a Hotmail, Outlook, yahoo, msn or Gmail account with etc. It's not as full features I think as the Gmail app and if that's all you're using just remove the Email app from your homescreen and use only Gmail.

Thanks everyone. I only want one icon so have (for the moment) deleted the google icon although I have gmail and other addresses

I use the Samsung app for my Gmail as the Gmail app doesn't pinch/zoom/reflow text like the built in Sammy one.

I always get notifications as soon as a message is received and when I click on that notification it opens the Samsung app.

As I said I have deleted the gmail icon and a going to try and work with the native Samsung one.
I have two email addresses loaded and will se what happens.
As I am retired my email is not life and death.

The Samsung mail app hooks into gmail nicely. As mentioned in the other thread linked above you can get mails as soon as they are sent to you if you connect your gmail into the app using the Exchange Activesync.
