Hello about three days ago i got my first droid the samsung mini.

But i have two problems.

1. I need to know how to set the phone to use 3G or better HSDPA only.

2. How to install flash player cause when i try to install it from the market it says : installation failed package name invalid.

Btw my phone is already rooted. :-P

1: Go to "applications" then "settings" then "wireless and networks" then at the button go to "mobile networks"

Under mobile network, enable the first option "Use packet data, activate data network" That should fix your 3G/HSDPA problem


2: The processor in this phone ARMv6, doesn't support flash player in browser. It has his own youtube/flash application for playing flash video. This means it plays the video like a media player, it cannot play flash video embedded on web pages without loading into the flash media player application

But my connection still uses EDGE but i need to set it or force it to use 3G / HSDPA.

Any more bright ideas guys ?
 
Do you have a 3G plan from your service provider ? Without it the phone will work only with edge. Also check to see if Use 2G only is checked in Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks
 
Atulalvenkar, yes my plan supports 3G and HSDPA. And i've didn't set to use only 2G networks.

Any more ideas?

This may be obvious but still an issue, are you within a area/location capable of receiving 3G network connection?

Try it in several different areas/locations and turn data network on and off maybe restarting your phone and of course make sure force 2G network is actually disabled, double check.


Also... i don't know what firmware you are running but i have an similar issue after upgrading to gingerbread 2.3.4, whenever i disable 3g networks and wifi, my signal seems fine, 3G icon appears and everything looks normal but i cannot make any calls nor can i even use the internet for anything, it just doesn't work, but if i enable wifi... then internet and phone calls work (While connected to a wifi AP)

To make it work with wifi off i enabled both options for 2G and 3G networks... at the same time... this way everything works normal This issue only started happening after my upgrade to gingerbread, about an 20 mins after upgrading and making phone calls
 
Yes, i've started to think that i'm not in the area cause i'm in my village. But today i will go to the city. To the center. And then try. I will upgrade to gingerbread this week :-)

The issue was i wasn't in the 3G / HSDPA area. Tried in my city and not the village and it's working :)

HI! is packet data make you capable to browse internet on your phone? i used your solution but i can't browse in the internet using my android phone!
I know that my sim card has no problem, i used it to my other non-android phone and it can browse. Why cannot browse in android? please help -razorteza@yahoo.com

Yes it enables you to browse. Try browsing using wifi and make sure your phone is not in flight mode and also make sure you actually have 3G signal.

If you don't have 3G signal you cannot browse and also you should have a data plan or credit
