Two questions about TapFish

Yeah, it would be nice to be able to exchange gifts. But on the iOS version, although you can send gifts to people, the gifts are limited to specific gift items. You can't send anything you bought, won, or bred. However, you can buy things from other people's tanks. But you can only buy those things that are available in the store anyway, so you can't buy somebody's bred fish, for example. And you'd have to pay the full store price for it. The school bus, for example, is available in the iOS store, and it costs a whopping 72 bucks - the same as the crayon, apple, and globe! The one thing you can buy from a neighbor's tank that isn't in the store is a gift item that someone else sent to the neighbor (you can't buy gift items for yourself).

I like the events and the backgrounds but I had to buy 2 more tanks to get 10 tanks altogether to win the first seahorse background. I didn't win the falling shells and am glad of that. They are extremely annoying.

The only complaint I have about this game (apart from some of the newer unwanted features like the speed up button, delete tanks button, and neighbors' generic tank numbering) is that it is too expensive. Fishbucks are way overpriced. On the iPod, they are a LOT cheaper. For example, in the latest sale you can buy 325 fb for $5.99 on the iPod - but $5.99 only gets you 115 fb on the Android, which is still much cheaper than the regular price of $9.99 for 115 fb.

I am not spending any money on the iPod version because my iPod screen is much too small to be enjoyable and it's really slow. I'm basically just seeing how far I can get without spending any money, and concentrating on buying fish that aren't available yet on the Android. I'm at level 11 now with very little effort, but I only have 2 breeding tanks. I also have 2 mystery breeding tanks but only have 2 fish I can breed in them because I don't have fishbucks to buy the mates for some of the other limited breedables. You're supposed to get different results with the same two fish (like the event fish), but so far I seem to be getting just two variations after having bred about 6 times.
 
Lol just reading through all the recent posts here. I have to agree I miss winning the algae eaters. What am I supposed to do with my apple and globe!? Just random tank decoration I guess.

And I'm really sad that you can't see tank names anymore that's half the fun! My last tank isn't going to make any sense now. I named it OZ and put a bunch of those new green crystals together with a row of yellow sea shells leading up to it. But it's not the best decoration in the world so honestly without the name I'm not sure anyone is gonna get it lol :( They should at least make an option to share the names.

I noticed they have a decent 40% off sale on fish bucks this weekend which is tempting but I really shouldn't spend any more money. I already spent more than I ever wanted to which I actually originally said I wouldn't spend any real money but...I'm sure a lot of people hack though, they have to. Based on some of the tanks I've seen they spend fish bucks like it grows on virtual trees. Either that or they have some serious cash they don't mind spending.

They seriously need another way to earn fish bucks besides the few they have now. But I suppose it's not a necessity for them as long as people are buying them. Like maybe a reward for breeding fish or something. I would like to write in about that and there definitely needs to be a undo button. I was not happy when accidentally buying two of the same fish with fish bucks the other day! And I don't like that delete option on the tanks being so easily accidentally pushable.

A question too, is it possible to still breed different varieties of creatures from the special events after the events happen? Because I tried to go back and breed more hermit crabs but I kept getting the same baby over and over. I kept cancelling it and trying to redo it but I got the same breed every time and I tried maybe 25 times. :/

And wow this post is getting really long but one last thing. TapRos you had great timing for feeding and cleaning my tanks yesterday! Thanks a bunch because I had misplaced my phone and was worried about all my fish lol. And someone else did it later too so that was nice, but anyway good timing ^^
 
Is the tank delete button a new thing from the latest update? I've never noticed one but I don't want to accidentally delete! It seems like they keep adding things that make it easier to lose coins, purchased fish, and fishbucks, in order to pressure us into spending actual cash.

Not doing it. I would buy the full game but I refuse to buy bucks of any kind. I don't rent games indefinitely!

I can't agree with you more. That's why I refuse to play World of Warcraft. They want me to pay $60 for the game and then $15 each month there after. I understand it costs money to maintain their servers but asking me to pay $60 for the provledge of playing the game is just plain unacceptable to me.

As for this game I've installed apps to get bucks but that's as far as I am willing to go. Either sell me something which lets me have all bucks items for X coins per buck or you get no $ from me.

I think fishbucks is a reasonable way for the devs to make money but they are way overpriced for a game like this and the sneaky ways of getting people to buy more are very annoying. I'm not sure how a paid option would work with the pricing structure they have already established...unless they charged like $250 it wouldn't be worth it to them!

Yeah the tank delete button came with a recent update. They already had it on the iOS version and on me my iPad it takes up half the area of tank button itself and I keep hitting it every time I change tanks. You do have to confirm before it actually deletes but you have to pay attention.

The speed-up button is the most annoying and useless feature though because why would you want to spend fishbucks to speed up one fish?

Everyone please keep bugging them to get rid of these bad features and bring back the neighbors tank names!
 
Hey guys, although I've been super busy, I'm keeping up with the tanks. The forum has grown tremendously while I was away! Hehe. I'll add all of you guys who are new, so add me too if I missed you: player name ObeeWan. I've bred the two new fish, the Killer and Declivis butterfly, they should be about 10 tanks from the bottom. I hate that you can't see names any more.... Since to see all the breds, you kinda need to know what tank you're going to! Sigh.

No, I had 50 of them (before I posted). I am not sure why the one fish was dead when he was fed with the other 49 and they were not much over 24hrs old.

Probably another sneaky ploy to get people to spend fishbucks! I thought that fish were supposed to survive 2 days without feeding but it seems pretty random.
 
Any one have any idea why when you tap on a fish at times it wipes out your fish bucks? I have done this accidentally after purchasing fish bucks twice and it wiped them out and before I notice a little message has floated up to the top. I think it is a scam to steal your money so you get stuck buying more. The two times it happened was coincidentally after I purchased fish bucks. The HACK looks to be the way to steal from the thieves.
 
I haven't noticed anything like that. You sure you didn't accidentally purchase something that costs fb? If it's a fish, each time you tap the screen it purchases a new one.
 
asnatlas, why don't you buy some food bricks?

If money is an issue it's easy to build coins, once you hit 100,000 buy a Royal Gramma (as many as you can afford). In a well-decorated tank you can make 26,000 coins on each one, every 3 days.

Just keep buying as many as you can afford until you build up a load of coins.


While I'm here I wonder if anyone knows this...

In the new updated version, if you lock your tanks, does it prevent the Delete Tank button from working?
Not sure I want to update because I don't trust myself not to delete. Thanks.
 
Regarding fish bucks, wouldn't it be great if the fishbucks just unlocked that fish, then you could buy as many as you wanted?

...Kind of like buying a background then just clicking "use" to use as many times as you want.
 
Yes, locking tanks prevents them from being deleted. In any case, it does ask you to confirm a deletion before it does so, but still you have to pay attention.

It would be nice if one fishbuck purchase would get you as many as you wanted but right now I'd be happy if they would make it more difficult to make a mistake, like purchasing a decoration....one at a time.
 
I would like an UNDO option! I accidentally purchased a few manatee, not that I don't like them, just would like to use my FB on something else, and would have liked to undo the purchase the second it happened. I guess that would be like them giving back money and most businesses are not going to do that if they don't have too.

If you're looking to make a lot of coin and have 100k to spend the best fish to purchase depends on the number of tanks you own. For example if you have just 1 tank to use then White Grunts are the best purchase. You can buy 23 of them and in 24 hours they can be sold for 7,056 coins each if they have a happiness of 90%. That's a profit of 2,856 each or 65,688 coins a day. If you have 4 tanks then you'd want to fill 3 with Golden Dwarfs (profit 51,150 per day) and in the 4th tank 13 White Grunts (profit 37,128 per day) for a total profit of 88,278 per day.

One of these nights I'll post my spreadsheet on google docs again. I just need to remember to do it when I get home.
 
I recently installed CyanogenMod7 on my HP Touchpad which allows me to boot into the Android operating system (in addition to the standard HP webOS operating system)

So now I have a new fish tank "AkwaticTablet" and get to see it on a 10" screen!

Scaling is a little messed up when I look at my phone's tank, but its pretty nice to see the fish a lot larger.

I just added a 6th tank but yes.

I didn't last too long without doing the "unlimited fish bucks" thing but I at least kept my level the same, so I won't be adding tanks too frequently.

I got bored with the game with 80 tanks and whatever I wanted, but its nice to start over, while still having the ability to buy anything my level permits.

And yes, I turned off the candy corn shower, it got annoying quickly!

One way to make the game a little more interesting if you have a lot of coins is to pay to grow some fish into adults. For example with the Halloween event, I bred a ton of fish, many duplicates, so I took one of each and made them adults, but they're swimming around with toddlers of the same species, so it at least adds some variety.

Some people buy fishbucks and/or accept a lot of the free offers. Others root their phones and are able to edit the files. This is a long thread, but if you read through, you'll pick up some tips.
 
I dug a little bit deeper into editing the databases and not just the coins/bucks as usual. One thing I am able to do is make tank names longer than 8 characters. For example I have a tank called Halloween and another called Marine Life. There is also another database that controls the type and position of food bricks. I did a test and was able to change one of my food bricks to one of the 2 month varieties thats listed as SOLD OUT in the store. If I dig a little further I might be able to add fish that are sold out!

I also like one of the newer features where you can buy fish or decorations from a friend or neighbor's tank. I bought a few sand dollars, sea urchins and other 'expired' items, as well as some of the Back to School themed decorations that you can no longer get from the Jackpot Shuffle.
 
Hmm... well us ordinary mortals can't buy anything that's sold out or expired!

I'll probably end up rooting.

By the way, we have a new forum just for us. It was the Tapfishers social group. I don't know how to get to it from here though.
