Root Twrp and Cwm

I have been doing reading and figuring out what kind of rom i want to install on my awe. What is the 2 programs ? Don't they both serve the same function ?

In laymans terms yes... Cwm is a little buggy it formats when it feels like it... Twrp has more options and is a touch interface... What roms were u looking at???

Slimkat or carbon. They seem to be the most stable.
Definitely need to use twrp as those roms use newer script syntax... Just b warned that they have some issues still... If u dont mind a 4.1.2 rom i have both a kk themed and "L" themed rom available :) also their is no need to root to flash a rom... Just fastboot to twrp and flash rom of ur choice:) if u want u can flash twrp also to replace stock recovery...

I guess i just want to OC sometimes. I just need to change the kernel. I still need to understand more before i do anything else. I don't understand enough to do anything else other than root.

Don't overclock this phone . It doesn't like it . I know of 2 people who had problems with this phone after they overclocked . They had to trash their phone because of stutter issues .
I personally like T.W.R.P. version 2.7.1.0 and L awe version 2.0 . Stable , great battery life , plenty of features and everything just works . You can use the L awe stock version which installs recovery , root and the ROM all at once . Once you do that , you can then install TWRP easily . All the other ROMs have issues like Bluetooth not working or camera issues . I'd go with L awe or even Moonshine . Just follow the instructions and you'll do fine . Good luck and let us know your results .

Ur saying the stutter issue occurred after reverting back to stock kernel???

My son for instance had to trash his phone after he overclocked his awe because of stuttering even after he went back to stock ROM . He went out and bought another one and problem solved . The problem was a hardware failure . Apparently his phone heated once too much and he damaged his processor . It burned out some of the transistors . It happened to another friend of mine also . This phone does not like to be overclocked . It's an inexpensive device and the way the chips were installed gives very little forgiveness for overvolting and has no cooling whatsoever . It was made in the cheapest way possible . Not saying it's a bad phone especially in it's price range , just saying to be cautious .

I run both cores 1.7 or 1.9 no problems but if ur running it on a game then it will heat up I tryed an idea seams to b running cool but some people didn't ageree with it but worked for me I even got my phone in an hard case with stand I keep mine wide open 24 -7 I just got one of the good ones I geuse

Is there any way to tell which processor you get ?

my worst thing with this device was emmc failure. im on my 3rd awe, not because anything was broken but rather i went out and bought more testing devices to see how high i can overclock. i think we've reached our peak and no device should go as high as i have been going because its bound to messing something up. i've already had data corruption due to OC but i've seem to work past it and havent had it in a while. as long as you find your sweet spot (freq), you should stick to it and not overdue it.

it's not which prosser it the quialty of the components is the biggest thing do anything u want to ur phone at ur own risk we just trying to inform people not to go crazy not worth it at 40 to 75 dollars a pop if there was a way to get more air through it then it b better but I don't see a way yet if I had a Donner phone I have several ideas I'm not going to do them on my daily phone can't afford to burn it up as said if ur not sure on things in this forum ask or use ur best judgment cause its if phone have fun

Only thing that would cause a overheat to the point hardware failure would b incorrect thermald control or it being totally disabled which is y i made the stock kernel flashable to add these bk as spock removed external thermald and made it kernel side

Translation ?

So i installed twrp and got the visual recovery, but i can't boot into recovery from rom manager or twrp manager...any ideas ? Also tried to boot manually and it went dark after green android

try removing bat and charger. then re insert then try to boot again some times it works
Agreed its a little buggy when booting into recovery eg: sometimes reboots instead of going to recovery... Once in all is well... If u still have issues reflash the recovery
