Root TWRP support?

Contact Dees-Troy, iirc there was something with the display he needed to add support for into TWRP. Once thats done just a matter of adding a few TWRP flasgs to the BoardConfig.mk. ;)

I wonder what it could have been. We have CWM touch... I wouldn't figure there'd be much holding it back at that point since my Nook color has TWRP support even though it doesn't have CWM touch support.

When I get a little time, I may try to build it myself.

the touch code is way different for each. Koush's touch code supports alot more devices than TWRP's... but its closed sourced. the Spectrum has diff screen than most and as far as I know TWRP could very well have the needed support in it now.

Yeah, it appeared to be working, but then people were having issues restoring and I think when flashing. I never actually tried it, what advantage does it have over CWM?

only real advantage it has is a file manager. ;) Other than that a bunch of fluff. ;)

Allows queing multiple zips to be flashed.
Lets you rename backups within the recovery interface.

In general, it just feels nicer.

Personally I like the bare bones look of CWM, makes me feel more like a hard core developer I guess! :p

I was one who tested neph's twrp and I had issues with it not wiping data and flashing properly. It would flash the rom but would not boot in most cases...I vaguely remember getting a rom to boot once but it had massive issues. I haven't really heard from neph much lately but I guess he moved on to other projects. I know for a while he was working on unlocking the bootloader for the lucid. I really liked the IU of twrp at first but after more time on it I like the UI of CWM a bit more. Playfulgod told me that twrp does have themes though. It would be awesome to have a fully working copy of twrp...Actually! I wish we had ext4. It has very good reviews in the market and seems like a nice recovery. I emailed the dev once but he only makes it for htc and samsung phones atm. Actually when I emailed him he only had it working on htc phones and told me he then planned on making it for samsung phones. I asked him about releasing the source code for it but he said the source is not open..

IMU:
I haven't moved on to other projects, but I did get side tracked with work. The plant I deliver parts to is being down sized, so we've all been busy trying to figure out what the next 6 months look like. I can fire up the build box and put out a new version of TWRP if anyone wants it or I can just upload the config file for someone else to. There really wasn't much hassle building it once version 2.4 came out.

i'm sure plenty of people would give it a go if you built a new version.
