Help Typing and the funktion key

often when typing with the keyboard i press the FN key and then for example q, expecting to see a 1 but its just a q.
I have to press FN and then magnifier/sym key and then it works fine. untill i close and reopen the program and i have to do the same again...
any clues?

People have already posted about the same thing happening to them. Do you use Handcent? It seems to only happen in that.
