Typing Errors

I elected the Droid Razr Maxx over Samsung Stratosphere and Droid 4 primarily (which had regular keyboards) due to the battery life. It's been great in that regard. However, 2 months later I am still very frustrated with it's typing recognition capabilities (even after upgrade to ICS). It seems that it is subject to many more errors and having to backspace and correct than my Blackberry. I am using Skype ,still no improvement.

Yet a friend who also owns a Razr Maxx and has been having the same frustrating experience with it tried an iphone4 and made not one typing error.

I've also tried turning it so that the keyboard is horizontal and no improvement.

Any suggestions or any hope for Motorola to provide a better touch-screen keyboard?

I don't have any problem. Go into keyboard settings and change auto correct to aggressive. It will fix more errors that way. Or download SwiftKey 3. Best keyboard on the market as it learns from your typing habits so it always gives you the right suggestions

Thank you, I will try that. But I really disagree. Can't stand the phone ... primarily because of the keyboard and know others who feel the same.

Hating the phone because of the keyboard is liking hating a phone cause of the wallpaper it comes with. Use a different keyboard.

That's a ridiculous statement. You don't interact with wallpaper. You DO have to use the keyboard all the time and it's very easy to get frustrated with it. It's a PITA.

I have never experienced such a poor typing outcome as that which I get with the Razor Maxx phone. I am searching for a better alternative keyboard, and don't want to use swype. One user, above, reports that did not help anyway. It is worse with jelly bean in my experience. Have tried different settings to no avail.

I have found "SmartKeyboard" to be a little bit better. But still not great. Ipods have this down. And now, my Razr maxx doesn't hold a charge anywhere near as long anymore and takes much much longer to charge. Very disappointed.

I use Messagease. Yeah it looks odd. Yeah there is a bit of a learning curve. But the buttons are big and its easy to use...my typing speed is almost 50 wpm on the keyboard. But you have to allow for the learning curve. They actually have a game that helps with that. I started using it and have never looked back. It also keeps people from borrowing my phone!
