U23GTS 4.1.1 rooting and maybe modifying the rom

Hi,
I just recieved this tablet off eBay it was advertised as a U23GT, but it's not it's a U23GTS, which is about the same but not quite so I can't just use the custom roms out there, (wifi won't work for one) but there's a whole laundry list on what can get F'ed up.
So now I got a serious problem because I need root access in order to make the play store believe this is a different tablet (cause this is for my GF and she wants to play only one thing besides FB and that's the sims freeplay which wouldn't load on this device even though the hardware is fairly standard.
Rok3066 dual core A9 with like quite a good GPU.
Anyways long story short got linux got mac got windows on verious computers what app do I download and put the tablet in debugging mode to Become a su user i.e. root access. also if someone wrote a tutorial on how to backup the tablet one you got root access (the complete rom and strip chinese programs and the part chinese android keyboard and replace it with the standard android keyboard that would be cool. But I need root access for all those tricks anyways so root first tut's second.

turns out dansplans has a rooting script that works on this tablet if you folks need it. look for u23gts and terramir in google, since you shouldn't link to other forums just bad manners

You bought it directly from Shenzhen, China? They tend to change these things so often, depending on who's supplying the modules and components, and it literally is what's the cheapest we can get this week. They might have used a different WiFi module, and that's probably why the WiFi doesn't work with the custom ROM.
