Root U8665 and Y200 roms

msru8665

Lurker
First off I would like to say thanks to RFE, Shagerty, and RoboticBuddy. I wouldn't be rooted right now if it wasn't for your hard work. Does anyone know if roms developed for the Huawei Ascend Y200 are compatible with the U8665 because the specs are almost identical. It might be wishful thinking but I have seen a rom work after minor tweaking on more than one Huawei model before.

How do you think we should upload and I'm looking at releasing it tuesday or maybe monday I'm not sure i get back on sunday very late so thats a huge maybe

People are going to love it, I know I do.

I'd recommend Dropbox to share the file with the masses. The downloads from there are pretty fast compared to Google Drive.

IMO.

If CM7.2 isn't out yet then what the heck did I just install? lol says CM7.2
and I followed a guide here written by shagerty. This going to be an official release? not the unofficial one?

You're replying to an old post. cameron581 released the CM7.2 ROM for the Fusion 2, shagerty wrote the guide on how to install it.

I need help.
Yesterday I updated ROM on my android. I have Huawei Ascend Y200, I bought my phone at my country's mobile carrier shop, at Telenor. I don't know why I did it, I was reading somewhere that it could speed up my phone a little bit. Anyway, I downloaded from Huawe's official site this file :
HUAWEI Ascend Y200 firmware(U8655-1,Android 2.3,V100R001C00B898,General Version)
My previous vesrion was V100R001C00B88.
But I regret, I have lost option for switching on/off WiFi, data, rotation, GPS on my drop menu. I have lost some system application which I really need, such as Music player, Weather application, Google maps and some other. It wouldn't be the problem, but right now even without those application I have a lot more less memory in my phone and I can not install much applications.

Can someone help me? Is there any way to restore android to previous state like on PC, or can I do something do get it back to my previous ROM and get back my applications.
That is not my phone anymore, I messed it :(

My friend has the same phone bought at same carrier. Is there possibility to somehow get from his phone package to install previous firmware?

Unfortunately, it is my understanding that ROMs for the Y200 are not directly compatible with the U8665(Fusion 2) and vise versa; the ROMs for the Y201 are compatible with the Fusion 2.

The thread you will need to look at, and the people you will need to talk to are located at this web address ( My Huawei - Custom Roms / Kernel ) They have custom ROMs and recoverys that should work for you.

The page is in German, but with the use of Google Chrome to translate the page, and Google Translate to translate your posts into German, all should be well.

To answer your question about your friend having the same phone. If he has flashed a custom recovery, he can backup his current image, using the backup and restore/backup setting. Once he has backed up his phone, if it is anything like the Fusion 2, there will be a folder with a bunch of numbers located on his SD card. The folder is inside the sd/clockworkmod/backups folder. If you create a folder on your phones sd card in the same location, with the same names (you can just copy the entire clockworkmod folder to your phones sd) then, assuming you have a custom recovery installed as well, you can use the backup and restore setting to restore your friends backup to your phone.

The restore file will have all his information, so you will want to preform a factory reset after the backup has been restored.

Good luck.
